In addition to providing student housing during the academic year, the University of Northern Iowa Department of Residence provides summer housing to students, groups and individuals from May through July, as well as limited guest housing throughout the academic year. Offering both short-term and long-term stays in the residence halls!

The Department of Residence offers students the convenience and affordability of living in the residence halls during the summer months. Students do not need to be enrolled in summer classes to live on campus over the summer. The Department of Residence provides housing and dining for camps, conferences and academic programs & workshops for participants of all ages May to the beginning of August. The Department of Residence provides housing to individuals visiting the university and the Cedar Valley at all times throughout the year. Availability is limited.
Summer Student Housing is available to:
  • UNI, HCC and Allen students enrolled in the previous spring, current summer or upcoming fall semester
  • Students needing to extend their current academic year contract for any period of time following the spring semester
  • Remember, students do not need to be enrolled in summer classes to live on campus over the summer!
Conference Housing is available to:
  • Youth camps hosted at UNI
  • Adult groups hosting a conference or workshop at UNI
  • Individual adults participating in an academic program at UNI
Guest Housing is available to:
  • International guests affiliated with UNI
  • Visiting faculty and staff
  • Faculty and staff relocating to the area and in need of transitional housing
  • Individuals doing business with the university
  • Alumni visiting the area
  • Organizations in the Cedar Valley looking for internship and workshop participant housing
