Compare the value of on-campus housing vs off-campus housing with our downloadable housing comparison spreadsheet.
Thank you for taking the time to think through the benefits of living on campus, as research shows that students who live on campus earn higher grades and are more likely to graduate. The percentage of students who live on campus has remained relatively consistent over the past decade with approximately one-third of students enrolled at UNI taking advantage of on-campus housing. Students who choose to live on campus tell us that they do so because of the social or community network, the convenience and affordability of being on campus, supportive live-in staff who are available 24/7/365, a personal sense of safety and security, and an inclusive and vibrant residential life. Some students who have previously lived on campus and have chosen to move off campus tell us that they miss on-campus amenities like housekeeping, dining service, planned activities, and evening/weekend staff support – features that make on-campus living a good value. If you are struggling with your decision to live on- vs off-campus please visit or contact the Department of Residence at 319-273-2333 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
